Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his apostles.  We ask you to join us in spirit at 8 p.m. in your homes as a unified time to create a sense of togetherness.  Here are some instructions for creating a beautiful service within your home.  Have the communion elements-the bread, wine/grape juice ready.  We have several options for communion:  1) Light the Way has sealed wafer and juice sets available for pick up or delivery.  Please let us know if you need them.  2)  Have your own bread and wine/grape juice available.  There is a recipe listed below for communion bread.  We ask that you designate a sacred place and setting for communion.  There will not be a Facebook Live on Thursday, but at 8 p.m. we will all gather in spirit.  We encourage you to read Mark 14:22-25.  After reading these verses then hold a moment of silent prayer asking for forgiveness, assurance of life, and for the gift of salvation in the name of Jesus.  After the moment of silence, prepare for the Lord’s supper in your home having a confirmed adult say the powerful words of institution passed on to you by Pastor Dale Moe in the spirit of capturing the priesthood of all believers; and thus empowering you by the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Hold up the bread and say:  “In the night in which He was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks and broke it and gave it to His disciples saying ‘Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.  Do this for the remembrance of me.'” Hold up the wine/juice and say: “Again, after supper, He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.  Do this for the remembrance of me'”.  After these words are said, say the Lord’s Prayer together and then partake of the Lord’s Supper saying to each other or yourself “The body of Christ given for you and the blood of Christ shed for you.   Then take and eat, take and drink for the gift of forgiveness, life and salvation.  Children should receive a blessing of “Jesus loves you”.  The closing prayer is:  “I give you thanks, almighty God, that You have refreshed us through the healing power of this gift of life; and we pray that in Your mercy You would strengthen us, through this gift, in faith towards You and in fervent love towards one another; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen”.   This completes the Lord’s supper worship service celebrated together in our homes.  Please send a text, email or Facebook message letting us know how your Maundy Thursday worship went.  God Bless.
